Patriots Get Will Campbell and Milton Williams Back for Finale, Both Contribute in Win

Their returns strengthen both lines entering the playoffs after multi-week rehabs from November injuries.

Overview

  • New England activated left tackle Will Campbell and defensive tackle Milton Williams from injured reserve on Jan. 3 and made both active for the Jan. 4 regular-season finale against Miami.
  • To accommodate the moves, the Patriots waived defensive tackle Jeremiah Pharms Jr. and elevated linemen Brenden Jaimes and Leonard Taylor III from the practice squad.
  • Campbell, a top draft pick who missed four games with an MCL sprain, started at left tackle and played the full game in his first action since Week 12.
  • Williams, back from a five-game absence with a high-ankle sprain, recorded two tackles including a tackle for loss and said the ankle felt a little sore postgame.
  • Several starters remained out for the finale, including Jared Wilson, Harold Landry III, Robert Spillane and Khyiris Tonga, as New England closed the regular season with playoff seeding on the line.
