Patriots Draft Top Prospect Christian Gonzalez, Gain Extra Pick in Trade Down

The New England Patriots selected cornerback Christian Gonzalez from Oregon with the 17th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
Gonzalez was widely regarded as one of the best cornerbacks in the draft and was projected by many to be a top 10 pick.
The Patriots traded down from 14th to 17th, gaining an extra fourth-round pick from the Pittsburgh Steelers in the process.
Gonzalez's size and talent were greatly needed for the Patriots secondary after losing cornerback J.C. Jackson in free agency.
Gonzalez has the potential to become an immediate starter for the Patriots and help continue their tradition of shutdown cornerbacks.
