Overview

  • With his empty-netter at 3:53 remaining, Kane became the 50th NHL player and fifth U.S.-born skater to reach 500 career goals.
  • Kane also opened the scoring on a five-on-three power play with 29 seconds left in the first period.
  • Axel Sandin-Pellikka, J.T. Compher and Lucas Raymond each posted a goal and an assist, and James van Riemsdyk added two assists for Detroit.
  • Goaltender John Gibson backstopped the win and has an 11-2-0 record over his past 13 starts.
