She will take on a key political anchoring role on the ABC News Channel and host a new politics podcast.
Karvelas will continue to host the television discussion program Q+A and The Party Room podcast.
The ABC plans for Karvelas to have a broader audience across audio, TV, and digital platforms.
The new host for RN Breakfast has yet to be announced by the ABC.
