Path of Exile 2’s ‘Third Edict’ Patch Revamps Endgame With Bosses on Every Map, Optional Towers

Grinding Gear folds league-planned systems into the live build to directly address pacing, rewards, clarity.

Overview

  • Patch 0.3.1 is live with a broad Atlas overhaul that Grinding Gear Games details in new patch notes.
  • Towers no longer spread modifiers as precursor tablets now have fixed charges used at waystones to apply up to three modifiers, with extra random content added on lock.
  • Citadels are 66% more likely to spawn, tower completions guarantee a tablet drop, and legacy boss maps now feature tougher, more demanding encounters.
  • Every map now ends with a boss, lower-tier maps spawn about one-third fewer packs that scale back up by rank 15, and the largest 15 map layouts were reduced to cut runbacks.
  • Ground-effect affixes cover far less area at early tiers, and QoL changes include using Orbs of Alchemy on magic items, stash and merchant search memory, clearer descriptions, and a new town crier in Kingsmarch.
