Patchwork of September Holidays Expands Across Region as Buenos Aires Towns, Piura and Trujillo Confirm Closures

A new legal toolkit to move and declare local observances concentrates rest days to spur tourism and local commerce.

  • Argentina formalized a nationwide long weekend by moving the Día del Respeto a la Diversidad Cultural from Sunday 12 October to Friday 10 October under Decree 614/2025 and Resolution 139/2025.
  • Buenos Aires Province municipalities confirmed localized feriados in late September, including Maipú, Merlo and Carmen de Areco on Friday 26; Chiclana on Monday 22; San Miguel del Monte on Monday 29; and Rivadavia and Almirante Brown on Tuesday 30, with public offices closed and private observance optional.
  • FAECyS shifted the Día del Empleado de Comercio to Monday 29 September for most workers, with exceptions by branch, and the day is treated as a paid rest equivalent to a national feriado for those covered.
  • Peru’s Piura will observe its long‑standing regional holiday on Tuesday 24 September under Law N.º 15618, with MINEDU confirming public school closures and private schools deciding case by case.
  • Peru’s La Libertad region declared Friday 26 September a non‑working day for public entities in the province of Trujillo to support the Festival Internacional de Primavera, with private employers able to opt in subject to later hour recovery.
