Pat Murphy has been named the new manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, his first managerial role since 2015.
Murphy, who turns 65 on Nov. 28, has signed a three-year contract with the Brewers.
Former Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks has been appointed as the team's associate manager.
Murphy replaces Craig Counsell, who left the Brewers to manage the Chicago Cubs, marking a shift in the long-standing relationship between the two, who have known each other for 37 years.
Murphy has a combined coaching record of 947-400-2 at Notre Dame and Arizona State, and a record of 273-230 managing at the Single-A and Triple-A levels in the Padres organization.
