• Joint Secretary K.J. Srinivasa inaugurated the first Passport Seva Mobile Van at Gauhati University on July 14 under the Aapke Dwar programme.
• The vans are stationed across all six northeastern states to supplement existing service centres and reduce travel burdens for applicants.
• Each mobile unit functions as a one-stop shop where citizens can submit documents, complete biometric scans and pay fees on site.
• This expansion complements the June rollout of PSP 2.0’s chip-enabled e-passports and the mPassport Police App to accelerate verification and issuance.
• Officials from the Regional Passport Office, TCS and state police inspected the service and pledged to deploy more vans and uphold high standards of efficiency and transparency.
