Overview

  • A man climbed onto a Railjet at Sankt Pölten during a cigarette break and clung to the train as it left, positioning himself between two carriages.
  • He banged on windows to signal for help, leading the conductor to engage the emergency brake and allow crew members to bring him inside.
  • The Railjet, traveling from Zurich to Vienna, reached Vienna Meidling station about seven minutes late, where police officers took the 24-year-old Algerian into custody.
  • Austrian Railways spokesperson Herbert Hofer described the act as irresponsible and warned that such stunts frequently result in death and endanger emergency responders.
