Paschim Express Coaches Detach Twice in an Hour, Forcing Coach Swap and Delay

Western Railway has begun technical checks after replacing two coaches.

Overview

  • The Bandra TerminusAmritsar Paschim Express experienced two uncoupling events on Sunday, first between Vangaon and Dahanu at 1:19 pm and then at Sanjan around 2:10 pm, according to officials.
  • Western Railway reported no injuries or damage and said broader operations were unaffected, though the train’s journey was delayed.
  • After a 25-minute halt for re-coupling following the first incident, Valsad Carriage & Wagon staff were mobilised and a relief locomotive departed Valsad at 3:15 pm for the second incident.
  • Railway sources said the same two 2AC coaches detached on both occasions and were replaced with two 3AC coaches before departure from Sanjan at about 4:46 pm.
  • Fifteen staffers were assigned to shift luggage during the coach swap, and the Valsad Medical Association arranged tea and breakfast for roughly 100 passengers as checks to determine the cause continue.
