Overview

• At around 1pm on August 2, a man naked from the waist down carried a knife through Dark Lane, Bristol Street and Bremilham Road, threatening and assaulting passersby in central Malmesbury.
• Officers responded swiftly and arrested the suspect on Bristol Street within minutes of the first reports.
• Paramedics treated the man at the scene and no serious injuries were reported among the public or the suspect.
• Detective Superintendent Angela Shipp said the incident is being treated “incredibly seriously” and highlighted the likelihood of additional witnesses and victims.
• Wiltshire Police have maintained a heightened presence in the town centre and are asking anyone with information or potential victims to contact them on 101 quoting log 141.
