The year's final eclipse arrives near the September equinox with peak coverage around 19:42 UTC.

  • Skywatchers in New Zealand, eastern Australia, the South Pacific and parts of Antarctica will see the event, while India, the UAE and most of the Northern Hemisphere will not.
  • According to published timings, the partial phase begins about 17:29 UTC, reaches maximum around 19:41 UTC and ends near 21:53 UTC.
  • EarthSky reports the Moon will cover up to about 85% of the Sun overall, with local views such as Dunedin, New Zealand seeing roughly 72% at sunrise.
  • Observers are urged to use certified eclipse glasses or solar filters and to avoid direct, unfiltered viewing through eyes, cameras or telescopes.
  • In India the eclipse coincides with Pitru Paksha, but with no local visibility, Sutak restrictions are not in effect.
