Partial Reopening Announced for Riedbahn After Five-Month Renovation

The Riedbahn, a key rail corridor between Frankfurt and Mannheim, underwent a five-month closure for extensive modernization and upgrades.
Train services will resume on December 15, but initial operations will only accommodate 95% of passengers due to ongoing restrictions on certain regional lines.
Regional rail lines RB 62 and RB 63 will remain out of service until December 24, with bus replacements continuing in the interim.
Full restoration of all passenger and freight services, including S-Bahn lines, is scheduled for January 13, 2025, according to Deutsche Bahn.
The Riedbahn project is part of a broader plan to overhaul 41 heavily used rail corridors, aiming to enhance reliability and modernize Germany's rail infrastructure.
