Middlebrook falsely marketed a 'patent-pending' cure and prevention treatment for COVID-19, promising investors guaranteed returns and miraculous results.
He fabricated claims, including that Magic Johnson was involved in his company and that a $10 billion offer had been made by a Dubai party to purchase his businesses.
Middlebrook was arrested in March 2020 after delivering fake COVID-19 treatment pills to an undercover FBI agent posing as an investor.
The sentencing judge cited Middlebrook's perjury during the trial and his refusal to accept responsibility as factors in determining the lengthy prison term.
