Overview
- Troy Parrott made his Real Betis debut as a 71st-minute substitute and immediately beat the offside trap before pulling a shot just past the post.
- Parrott played a central role in the 83rd-minute counter-attack that led to Pablo Garcia’s winning goal in a 1-0 victory at the Mestalla.
- The win gives Real Betis back-to-back victories to start the La Liga season and leaves them high in the early standings.
- Parrott signed a five-year deal from AZ Alkmaar for a reported fee of about €20m structured as roughly €16m up front plus €4m in add-ons, a sale that represents a clear profit for AZ and could trigger a sell-on payment to Tottenham depending on past terms.
- Manager Manuel Pellegrini has praised Parrott’s attributes and Betis will now manage striker rotation and Parrott’s challenge for starts as the club balances domestic fixtures and continental competition.
