Overview

  • Krenwinkel was convicted in 1971 of the Tate-LaBianca murders that claimed seven lives, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate.
  • The parole panel judged the 77-year-old a low risk of reoffending based on her age and over five decades of exemplary conduct.
  • This marks her second parole recommendation after Newsom blocked an earlier approval in 2022 and follows 14 previous denials.
  • Victims’ relatives, led by Sharon Tate’s sister Debra Tate, have protested the recommendation and demanded direct apologies that Krenwinkel has declined.
  • Having served 54 years and with her death sentence commuted in 1972, Krenwinkel is now California’s longest-serving female inmate.
