Parliamentary Panel Reviews Gulmarg Facilities and Notes Improved Security in Kashmir

This weekend’s visit assessed governance structures, public grievance processes as well as pilgrimage services before consultations in Srinagar.

  • The 29-member committee led by MP Brij Lal arrived on June 28 to examine governance performance and grievance redressal across Jammu and Kashmir.
  • On June 29 the panel toured Gulmarg, inspecting resort facilities and redressal systems while recording a rise in tourist arrivals.
  • Members reported that the fear stemming from the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack has dissipated following heightened security measures under Operation Sindoor.
  • During their Katra visit the delegation met Shrine Board CEO Anshul Garg to discuss improvements to Vaishno Devi’s pilgrimage infrastructure and grievance channels.
  • The committee will meet Srinagar’s chief secretary to review RTI implementation and judicial infrastructure before finalizing its report to Parliament.
