Overview
- The Lok Sabha will begin the special discussion at 12 noon on Monday with a total of 10 hours allotted and three hours reserved for the BJP.
- The Rajya Sabha will take up the debate on Tuesday, to be opened by Home Minister Amit Shah, with Leader of the House J. P. Nadda among the participants.
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to speak at the conclusion of the Lok Sabha debate after the prime minister’s opening remarks.
- Congress has lined up speakers including Gaurav Gogoi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra even as the party questioned the timing, while the Trinamool Congress supported holding the discussion.
- Parliament has also scheduled a debate on election reforms and the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls for Dec. 9–10 in the Lok Sabha and Dec. 10–11 in the Rajya Sabha, with Rahul Gandhi expected to lead for the Opposition.
