Parliament Reconstitutes Standing Committees, Keeps Chairs, Sets Up Two Select Panels

  • The Lok Sabha Secretariat released updated committee compositions effective September 26, with a subsequent bulletin confirming that incumbent chairpersons remain in place.
  • Two select committees will scrutinize the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025 and the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025, chaired by Baijayant Panda and Tejasvi Surya respectively.
  • Shashi Tharoor continues to lead the External Affairs panel, while Charanjit Singh Channi chairs Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Food Processing.
  • Other notable chairs include Nishikant Dubey for Communications and IT, Radha Mohan Singh for Defence, Basavaraj Bommai for Labour, Textiles and Skill Development, and Bhartruhari Mahtab for Finance.
  • Further appointments name CM Ramesh to Railways, Rajiv Pratap Rudy to Water Resources, Anurag Singh Thakur to Coal, Mines and Steel, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi to Consumer Affairs, PC Mohan to Social Justice, Tiruchi Siva to Industry, Bhubaneswar Kalita to Science and Technology, and Sanjay Kumar Jha to Transport.
