- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla directed the launch of the Health Menu on July 16 to fuel lawmakers and officials during long sessions.
- The menu features millet-centric dishes, fibre-rich salads, protein-packed soups and lean non-vegetarian options, each clearly marked with calorie counts and formulated to be low in carbohydrates, sodium and calories.
- Highlights include ragi millet idli with sambhar (270 kcal), jowar upma (206 kcal), sugar-free mix millet kheer (161 kcal), grilled chicken with boiled vegetables (157 kcal) and grilled fish (378 kcal).
- Beverage choices such as green and herbal teas, masala sattu and jaggery-flavoured mango panna replace sugar-laden sodas and traditional sweets.
- The launch precedes the Monsoon Session starting July 21 and aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national health campaigns, including the Fit India MovementPOPOSHAN Abhiyaan and Eat Right India.
