Parksite Police Book Five in Two Cases Over Fake MLA Stickers on SUVs

The action targets misuse of MLA insignia during the BMC election run-up.

  • Parksite police in Vikhroli said they registered two cases and booked five people for illegally displaying 'Vidhan Sabha Member/MLA' stickers on luxury SUVs.
  • Officers on a 12:30 am January 14 patrol at Anandgad Naka stopped a black Scorpio Classic (MH 04 LL 7000) carrying the sticker and having tinted windows.
  • Driver Dawoot Hasmatullah Chowdhary said the Scorpio belonged to Imran Ayub Sheikh, but records showed Monu Singh as the registered owner, and all three were booked.
  • During the same patrol, police intercepted a black Mahindra Thar Roxx (MH 47 CB 7000) with the sticker and booked driver Nadir Iqbal Sheikh, claimed owner Imran Ayub Sheikh, and registered owner Nitesh Punabhai Kathrotiya.
  • Offences were recorded under Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act and Sections 204 and 205 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with at least one vehicle seized and investigations continuing.
