Parker Kligerman Wins on Track at Daytona as Connor Zilisch Takes Official Xfinity Victory

A planned relief stop to protect Connor Zilisch’s healing collarbone, under rules that credit the starter, produced Xfinity’s first two-driver winning car since 2007.

Connor Zilisch, driver of the #88 Registix Chevrolet, slips and falls off his car in victory lane after winning the NASCAR Xfinity Series Mission 200 at The Glen at Watkins Glen International on August 09, 2025 in Watkins Glen, New York.

Overview

  • Connor Zilisch started at Daytona and exited under the first rain caution by design, handing the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet to Parker Kligerman after practicing the swap in advance.
  • Kligerman charged to the front and was leading when a last-lap multi-car wreck triggered the caution that ended the race, locking in the result under yellow.
  • Under NASCAR regulations, the driver who takes the green flag is the driver of record, so Zilisch is credited with the victory and the points despite Kligerman taking the checkered flag and celebrating in Victory Lane.
  • Team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. said the move prioritized Zilisch’s long-term health following collarbone surgery, and Kligerman answered a late call before a planned vacation to serve as relief driver.
  • JR Motorsports swept the podium with Sammy Smith and Justin Allgaier next across the line, and Allgaier now holds a three-point lead over Zilisch in the regular-season standings.
