Overview
- On July 18, the four-metre-high golden statue of feminist lawyer Gisèle Halimi was installed along the newly renovated promenade on Rue de la Chapelle.
- Nine additional figures of Christine de Pizan, Jeanne Barret, Olympe de Gouges, Louise Michel, Alice Guy, Alice Milliat, Paulette Nardal, Simone de Beauvoir and Simone Veil will be positioned ahead of the July 26 inauguration.
- The ten steel sculptures originally emerged from the Seine at the Paris 2024 opening ceremony and were subsequently displayed at the Assemblée nationale.
- Each statue has been coated with an ultra-resistant resin to ensure durability for outdoor exhibition.
- The project complements upgrades around the Adidas Arena and new cycle lanes and will remain until the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as a symbolic relay with Paris.
