Overview

  • More than 130 royal jewels and related objects opened to the public Wednesday at the Hôtel de la Marine, with the show scheduled to run through April 6, 2026.
  • Loans include roughly 60 works from London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and major contributions from the Al Thani Collection, alongside pieces from King Charles III, Cartier, Chaumet and France’s national collections.
  • Three works slated for display—Empress Eugénie’s diadem and shoulder brooch and Empress Joséphine’s earrings—are missing because they were stolen from the Louvre’s Apollo Gallery in October.
  • The Hôtel de la Marine says its galleries were rebuilt with modern, high‑grade security in 2021 and showcase bullet‑proof vitrines, while curators declined to discuss specific protections.
  • Authorities have detained four suspects in the Louvre case, none of the stolen jewels have been recovered, and the museum is installing about 100 new cameras and upgraded anti‑intrusion systems with full rollout expected next year.
