Paris-Milan Train Service to Resume After 19-Month Interruption
The SNCF and Trenitalia will restart high-speed rail connections on March 31 and April 1, respectively, following extensive repairs to the Maurienne Valley route.
- The Paris-Milan train service was suspended in August 2023 after a major rockslide damaged a tunnel in the Maurienne Valley.
- SNCF will offer three daily round trips starting March 31, while Trenitalia will operate two daily round trips beginning April 1, 2025.
- Restoration efforts included removing 5,000 cubic meters of unstable rock and repairing 300 meters of damaged tunnel infrastructure.
- Trenitalia also announced new Paris-Marseille service starting June 15, 2025, with four daily round trips to expand its presence in France.
- The reopening of the Paris-Milan line is expected to improve international connectivity and alleviate operational challenges for Trenitalia.
