Paris Marks 10 Years Since the 13‑November Attacks With Survivor‑Led Tribute

Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes joined a survivors’ choir to sing You’ll Never Walk Alone at the newly inaugurated Garden of Remembrance in central Paris.

Overview

  • Le Choeur du 13, made up of 45 survivors, relatives and witnesses, performed alongside Hughes during the commemoration.
  • The performance took place in the Jardin du souvenir at Place Saint‑Gervais near City Hall during a ceremony attended by President Emmanuel Macron and Mayor Anne Hidalgo.
  • Hughes said he intends to apply for French nationality and revealed a back tattoo of Paris’s coat of arms with the motto Fluctuat nec mergitur.
  • The ceremonies honored the 132 people killed and about 350 wounded in 2015, including 90 at the Bataclan where Eagles of Death Metal were performing.
  • The remembrance occurs with the judicial outcome settled, as Salah Abdeslam is serving life imprisonment without release following his 2022 conviction.
