Paris Court Sentences Three French ISIS Returnees to 10–13 Years

The special terrorism court said the punishments reflect sustained allegiance to ISIS, family links to propagandists, plus harm to their children.

Overview

  • Christine Allain received 13 years with a two-thirds security period, Jennyfer Clain was sentenced to 11 years, and Mayalen Duhart to 10 years with deferred entry to custody.
  • Each woman was placed under an eight-year socio-judicial follow-up order intended to govern post-release monitoring.
  • Jennyfer Clain offered public apologies to victims and to her children; her lawyer called the ruling balanced and said she is unlikely to appeal.
  • The prosecution sought 10 to 15 years and argued the defendants were “agents of terror,” citing long-term ideological commitment and family roles within ISIS networks.
  • The trio left for Syria with their children in 2014, lived in Raqqa, were intercepted in Turkey in 2019, and their children—recognized as civil parties—have been placed in foster care.
