Prosecutors allege the Yucaipa kidnapping claim was fabricated, with investigators now treating the case as a search for the infant’s remains.

Overview

  • Jake, 32, and Rebecca Haro, 41, were charged in Riverside County with murder with malice and making a false police report, and each is held on $1 million bail.
  • The parents made a brief court appearance on Aug. 26, and their arraignment was continued to Sept. 4.
  • Prosecutors’ filings indicate investigators believe Emmanuel may have died between Aug. 5 and Aug. 14, prior to the reported abduction.
  • Extensive searches with scent-tracking and cadaver dogs in Yucaipa, Cabazon and Moreno Valley, including a freeway-area sweep with the father present, have not found the child.
  • Detectives served search warrants, reviewed surveillance, and seized the father’s vehicle and electronics, while child protective services removed another Haro child from the home.
