Parents and Grandmother Charged With Murder in Lynwood Boy’s Death After Body Found in Freezer

Prosecutors describe a pattern of prolonged abuse culminating days before the discovery.

Overview

  • Los Angeles County prosecutors charged Destiny Harrison, Daniel Monzon and Ana Zarceno-Carcamo with murder, torture and willful cruelty to a child, and added accessory counts for Monzon and Zarceno-Carcamo.
  • Each defendant is held on $2 million bail; Harrison’s arraignment was postponed to Nov. 20, with Monzon and Zarceno-Carcamo due in court Monday in Compton.
  • Deputies conducting a welfare check Tuesday found the boy in the family’s Euclid Avenue apartment, and Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
  • A criminal complaint alleges the child, identified as Isaiah H., died early Oct. 24 after long-term abuse and was found days later in a cooler filled with ice.
  • Three other children, ages 16, 13 and 9 months, were taken into DCFS custody as the homicide investigation continues and prosecutors say a conviction could carry 32 years to life.
