• Engel clocked a time of 2:23.43 at the International German Championships to break his own 200m breaststroke world record.
• He achieved the milestone after returning to the pool following a 13-week hiatus from intensive training for RTL’s ‘Let’s Dance’.
• In May, the 23-year-old finished second on the dance competition alongside professional partner Patricija Ionel.
• A gold medalist and world-record setter in the 100m breaststroke at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, he was named Germany’s Para-Sportler of the Year in April.
• He is now focused on the Para World Championships in Singapore, scheduled for September 21–27.
