Paradox Moves Cities: Skylines to Iceflake as Colossal Order Departs

Paradox turns to internal Iceflake to steady a sequel dogged by technical setbacks.

Overview

  • Paradox and Colossal Order confirmed a mutual split after more than 15 years working on the Cities franchise.
  • Iceflake Studios, a Paradox-owned Finnish team, will assume all Cities: Skylines II development in early 2026, covering updates, the Editor, console editions, and future expansions.
  • Colossal Order will deliver remaining items before the handover, including a Bike Patch and Old Town buildings on November 19, Creator packs and radios on December 3, and an Editor asset-mod beta before year-end.
  • Console releases remain delayed, with Paradox stating the transition includes renewed work toward bringing the game to consoles.
  • The change arrives during a difficult stretch for Paradox that has included prior studio separations and project cancellations.
