Paradox Moves Cities: Skylines II Development From Colossal Order to Iceflake Studios

The internal handover follows a troubled 2023 launch, with Paradox aiming to stabilize updates, finish the Editor, then deliver long-delayed console versions.

Overview

  • Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order said they have mutually decided to part ways after more than 15 years, with Colossal Order turning to new projects.
  • Iceflake Studios will assume all ongoing and future Cities: Skylines II development at the start of 2026, with a roadmap promised in the coming weeks.
  • Before the handoff, Colossal Order will release a final slate of 2025 updates that include the Bike Patch, Old Town buildings, bug fixes, and a beta of the Editor with asset-mod support.
  • Console editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S remain in development under Iceflake, and no release window has been announced.
  • Iceflake, acquired by Paradox in 2020 and previously behind Surviving the Aftermath, is collaborating with Colossal Order to ensure a smooth transition.
