Paradox Hands Cities: Skylines 2 Development to Iceflake as Colossal Order Exits

The internal studio will assume full control in early 2026 following a planned handover of final 2025 updates.

Overview

  • Paradox and Colossal Order say they have mutually ended their 15-year partnership, with Colossal Order moving on to new projects.
  • Iceflake Studios will take over all existing and future work on Cities: Skylines 2, covering patches, the Editor, console editions, expansions, and content packs.
  • Colossal Order will ship a bike patch and Old Town buildings on November 19, Creator Packs and radios on December 3, and a beta Editor with mod-asset support before year-end.
  • Console versions remain unreleased with no date, and Iceflake says it will continue work on the ports and share concrete plans soon.
  • The transition follows the sequel’s troubled October 2023 launch, when performance issues were acknowledged by both the publisher and the original developer.
