Overview

  • The Estación Espacial Papalote opened July 15 at Mexico City’s Bosque de Chapultepec and will run through summer 2025 with no extra fee beyond general admission.
  • Visitors encounter 16 hands-on STEM activities for ages 2–12, from launching air-pressure rockets to driving rovers on a simulated Europa surface and managing station oxygen.
  • Authentic mission artifacts, including Katya Echazarreta’s original Blue Origin flight suit, are on display for the first time in Mexico alongside NASA equipment.
  • A holographic avatar of Echazarreta welcomes young explorers, assigns them interstellar missions and encourages them to pursue science and technology careers.
  • Developed with Space Center Houston and backed by Volaris, Amazon and KIO, the exhibit emphasizes gender inclusivity and early childhood inspiration to meet future STEM skill demands.
