Panthers Rally Past Kraken 3-2 After Tkachuk Gets First Goal of Season
Nick Cousins scores the decisive goal with less than 6 minutes left, fronting a comeback from a 2-0 deficit with additional goals from Gustav Forsling and Matthew Tkachuk.
- Matthew Tkachuk scored his first goal of the season, breaking the longest start-of-season goal scoring drought of his career. He had previously never needed more than four games to score his first goal in any of his previous seven NHL seasons.
- The go-ahead goal was scored by Nick Cousins with 5:52 left. It was his first goal of the season, shot into an open net after Kraken goalie Joey Daccord went to retrieve a puck that took an odd bounce.
- Gustav Forsling also scored, contributing to the Panthers' comeback. His goal was a power-play goal supported by Anton Lundell.
- Kraken goals were scored by Jared McCann and Eeli Tolvanen. McCann's was a breakaway goal 7:58 into the first period, and Tolvanen deflected Jaden Schwartz's shot 7:34 into the second.
- In addition to the comeback win, the Panthers are expecting the return of injured defensemen Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour to practice, with their return timeline moved up from mid-December to late November.
