Panipat Police File Case After Video Shows 7-Year-Old Hung Upside Down at School

Education officials signal action against the school following the launch of a criminal probe.

Overview

  • Police registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Juvenile Justice Act after the child’s mother found the assault video on social media.
  • Investigators inspected Srijan Public School with the boy, his parents and the principal, and senior officers said the accused would be arrested soon.
  • The accused driver, identified locally as Ajay, allegedly tied the Class 2 student’s feet to a window grille and filmed the act on the school premises last month.
  • Panipat police said they have booked the driver and the principal, citing BNS provisions for voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation, along with Section 75 of the JJ Act.
  • The principal denies ordering the punishment and says the driver was dismissed after parental complaints, and the district education officer indicated school-level action will follow the probe.
