Overview

  • The plantation programme was conceptualised by Sudipta Chanda in collaboration with the Elmhurst Institute and Mohar Bithika Angan.
  • A Gulancha tree named “Desh” honoured the martyred heroes of Operation Sindoor, a Palash sapling christened “Bahar” was dedicated to residents of Nabina and Khanika Home, and an Amaltas tree dubbed “Lalit” paid tribute to the land of Santiniketan.
  • The event took place at the residence of legendary Rabindra Sangeet exponent Kanika Bandyopadhyay, highlighting the nexus between environmental conservation and cultural heritage.
  • Mukherjee stressed the need for a healthy environment for future generations while marking his birthday with the planting initiative.
  • Priyam Mukherjee and Ritapa Bhattacharya of the Elmhurst Institute underscored the Palash sapling’s symbolic role as an ambassador of youth.
