Overview
- Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe told VGC he and his team would “love to have those conversations” about bringing Palworld to Nintendo Switch 2 if an opportunity arises and the parties are willing to talk.
- Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filed a patent-infringement lawsuit against Pocketpair in September 2024 and narrowed their claims in November 2025 to target older, unpatched versions of Palworld after the developer removed the contested mechanics.
- Pocketpair and its communications lead previously said Palworld was too demanding for the original Switch but that Switch 2’s stronger hardware makes a port technically plausible if the studio and platform holder agree to it.
- The Tokyo District Court is due to issue a preliminary view on November 9, and that procedural step could materially affect whether a port can proceed while litigation continues or whether a settlement or other agreement will be needed.
- Palworld’s commercial scale — more than 30 million sales and large player peaks — plus Pocketpair’s prior Switch release of another title mean a Switch 2 port would have major market impact but likely requires legal clearance and direct cooperation with Nintendo.
