Salta Federal Police Officer Charged in 60,000-File Child Abuse Case, Remains Detained

Prosecutors move to keep him in custody based on ICACCOPS tracing within the Aliados por la Infancia V operation.

Overview

  • The 31-year-old Argentine Federal Police agent in Salta was formally charged with distributing child sexual abuse material aggravated by victims under 13.
  • Investigators used ICACCOPS data to trace P2P sharing through IP addresses, service provider records, timestamps, application details and file hashes.
  • A court-approved search of the suspect’s residence led to the seizure of digital devices containing roughly 60,000 illicit images and videos.
  • At the imputation hearing he was assisted by a public defender and declined to testify, and the prosecutor asked the Juzgado de Garantías to maintain his detention during the probe.
  • In a separate case in Palma, Spain, a 69-year-old man was convicted of distributing child abuse material and received a one-year sentence suspended for five years after police seized more than 500 files in a 2023 investigation.
