Palm Beach County Unanimously Renames Southern Boulevard as 'President Donald J. Trump Boulevard'

Ceremonial signage is slated for installation by September under FDOT’s new guidelines

The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners is set to vote Tuesday on renaming a familiar road "President Donald J. Trump Boulevard," but the honorary designation — which covers the stretch of Southern Boulevard between Kirk Road and South Ocean Boulevard —already went live on Google Maps.

Overview

  • The Board of County Commissioners approved honorary designations for a four-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard and a separate segment as “PBSO Motorman Highway.”
  • The move follows HB 987, signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, which allows ceremonial road names without altering postal addresses or emergency-response systems.
  • Google Maps preemptively updated its labels this week to reflect the ‘President Donald J. Trump Boulevard’ name ahead of the local vote.
  • The Florida Department of Transportation will manufacture bright green-and-white markers and install them by September.
  • The ‘PBSO Motorman Highway’ segment honors Corporal Luis Páez, Deputy Dan Diaz and Deputy Ralph “Butch” Waller, three deputies killed in the line of duty.
