Palm Beach County Approves Honorary 'President Donald J. Trump Boulevard'

The state Department of Transportation will install ceremonial signs by September pending local municipal ratification.

A portion of a South Florida road that runs from the Palm Beach International Airport to Trump's Mar-a-Lago home will be renamed to honor the president.

The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners is set to vote Tuesday on renaming a familiar road "President Donald J. Trump Boulevard," but the honorary designation — which covers the stretch of Southern Boulevard between Kirk Road and South Ocean Boulevard —already went live on Google Maps.

Overview

  • Commissioners voted unanimously on July 8 to rename a four-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard between Palm Beach International Airport and Mar-a-Lago as President Donald J. Trump Boulevard.
  • HB 987, signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis on June 13, mandates FDOT to erect honorary roadway markers across Florida, including this segment.
  • FDOT crews are finalizing the green-and-white sign designs and expect to complete manufacture and installation by September.
  • An adjacent section of Southern Boulevard will be designated PBSO Motorman Highway in honor of fallen deputies Luis Páez, Dan Diaz and Ralph “Butch” Waller.
  • Official addresses and emergency-response systems will continue using Southern Boulevard until West Palm Beach and the Town of Palm Beach grant final approval for the honorary names.
