Overview

  • Under the settlement, total bedrooms are cut to 896, a 40% reduction from the latest plan and 60% from the original 2011 proposal, while new commercial space is trimmed by 20%.
  • Plans for an indoor waterpark with waterslides and wave pools have been eliminated in favor of a smaller Mountain Adventure Center.
  • The agreement establishes a conservation easement at the base of Shirley Canyon to preserve land for recreation and bars further development within the plan boundary for 25 years.
  • Environmental groups estimate a 38% reduction in daily car trips from the scaled-back project and pledge to drop their lawsuit once the revised plan secures county approval.
  • The revised proposal will be shaped by additional community meetings and must win formal approval from the Placer County Board of Supervisors before moving forward.
