Palace Releases 20th Birthday Portraits of Crown Prince Christian After F-16 Farewell Flight

The heir advances through a lieutenant’s course, his cockpit video underscoring Denmark’s transition from F-16s to F-35s.

Overview

  • Kongehuset published new images to mark Crown Prince Christian’s 20th birthday, shot at Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg in Copenhagen.
  • Earlier this week the palace released GoPro footage from the cockpit as he took part in an F-16 training flight at Skrydstrup Air Base.
  • The flight was presented as a symbolic send-off for Denmark’s long-serving F-16s as the Royal Danish Air Force adopts F-35s.
  • Christian described the experience as “a boy’s dream come true,” and noted that King Frederik visited the base after the flight.
  • He completed service with the Guard Hussar Regiment in May and is currently enrolled in a Lieutenant’s training course.
