PBS reported a 3.87% year-on-year increase in the Sensitive Price Indicator for the week ended January 15.
Wheat flour rose 34.90% year on year, gas charges for the lowest consumption group increased 29.85%, and eggs climbed 20.85%.
Short-term volatility showed tomatoes up 27.64% week on week, LPG up 7.03%, and wheat flour up 3.26%, while potatoes fell 6.72% and onions 3.82%.
Inflation impact by income group ranged from 3.16% for the highest-income quintile to 4.52% for the second quintile, indicating a heavier burden below the top tier.
Out of 51 monitored items, 13 rose, 13 fell and 25 were unchanged, with prices tracked across 50 markets in 17 urban centres.
