Pakistan’s Asaan Connect App Set for July Launch

Regulator-backed centralised KYC will widen retail access to stocks, mutual funds, insurance by letting users complete verification once

Overview

  • The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and the Central Depository Company confirmed that the Asaan Connect app will launch in July 2026 to simplify investor onboarding.
  • Asaan Connect creates a single investor profile with one-time KYC/AML checks so users can use the same verified identity to open accounts for stocks, mutual funds, insurance products.
  • SECP Chairman Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu endorsed the project and pledged full regulatory support for the platform as part of efforts to make investing simpler, safer, and more accessible.
  • CDCPL’s board also discussed governance changes to separate core depository duties from non-core trustee and service businesses and to consider listing non-core units on the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
  • Officials say the app could expand financial inclusion by lowering paperwork and speeding account setup for younger and previously excluded retail savers while regulators monitor investor protection and market integration.
