Overview
- Military officials said intelligence-based operations on the night of Sept. 9–10 targeted suspected hideouts in Mohmand, North Waziristan and Bannu.
- Fourteen militants were killed in Mohmand, with four slain in North Waziristan’s Datta Khel and one in Bannu.
- The raids followed a Sept. 2 attack on a Bannu security camp that killed six soldiers, after which Maj. Adnan Aslam died of his wounds.
- The military described the fighters as “Khwarij,” its term for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, and reported seizing weapons and ammunition.
- Police reported a separate incident in Lakki Marwat’s Nasar Khel where militants demolished an intelligence official’s house and took his weapons.
