Pakistan Sets Live-Fire Zone Overlapping India’s Trishul Drills Near Sir Creek

Defence notices portray routine signalling, with coordination expected to prevent incidents.

Overview

  • Pakistan’s Hydrographer issued NAVAREA IX 514/25 for November 2–5, detailing live surface and sub-surface firing in a northern Arabian Sea box of roughly 6,000 sq km and warning mariners to keep clear.
  • The designated firing area lies alongside spaces tied to India’s ongoing tri-service Exercise Trishul on the western front, which includes activity in the Sir Creek sector and the Arabian Sea.
  • Indian officials say Trishul is a large, multi-domain validation involving about 20–25 warships, roughly 40 fighter aircraft and around 20,000–25,000 army personnel, with amphibious elements such as INS Jalashwa.
  • Vice Admiral A N Pramod described the drills as integrated operations spanning conventional, cyber and space domains, with joint command arrangements across Gujarat, Rajasthan and Mumbai.
  • Separately, India has issued a NOTAM for phased Indian Air Force exercises over the Northeast on six dates from November through January, while defence sources suggest Pakistan’s naval window could include missile tests and submarine-launched torpedo trials.
