Overview
- The Counter Terrorism Department said its operation near the Shamshto camp in Peshawar killed five militants, including a senior ISKP commander identified as Imran, also known as Abu Bakr, and that follow-up clearance and searches are under way.
- CTD officials said Imran was a proclaimed offender wanted in about 20 cases for terrorism, bombings and target killings and that he was linked to the February 6 Tarlai imambargah suicide attack by supplying a suicide jacket and moving the bomber.
- Authorities reported they recovered an SMG, four pistols, two hand grenades, one improvised explosive device, five magazines and numerous cartridges from the militants, which officials say indicated planned attacks on sensitive sites and places of worship.
- Separately in Karachi, police said multiple encounters across the city led to seven arrests and four wounded suspects, with officers seizing firearms, mobile phones, motorcycles and cash during those operations.
- Officials and residents should expect continued security sweeps and investigations to disrupt any remaining networks and to protect imambargahs, churches and other vulnerable sites while criminal policing continues in urban areas.
