Overview
- ISPR reported two large groups tried to cross from Afghanistan near Spinwam in North Waziristan and Ghaki/Ghokhi in Kurram, with 25 infiltrators killed, including four suicide bombers, and a cache of weapons recovered.
- Five soldiers were martyred in the engagements, with sanitisation operations under way and the military casting doubt on the Afghan interim authorities’ resolve during parallel talks in Türkiye.
- In a separate North Waziristan operation in Jhallar, forces destroyed a vehicle being prepared for a suicide attack and killed three militants after what officials called credible intelligence.
- Earlier in Tank district, an intelligence-based operation killed eight militants identified by officials as the India-backed proxy group Fitna al-Khawarij, with arms and ammunition seized.
- The intensified actions followed twin IED blasts in Hangu that used a secondary-device ambush to kill SP Asad Zubair and two policemen, with police later saying two suspects were killed and no group had claimed responsibility.
