Pakistan Says 12 Militants Killed in KP and Balochistan Raids

ISPR casts the Balochistan action as part of the Azm-e-Istehkam drive targeting what it calls foreign-sponsored networks.

Overview

  • A joint Counter Terrorism Department and police operation in Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killed eight militants and injured two officers, according to regional police officials.
  • In Kalat, Balochistan, ISPR says four Indian-backed militants linked to the Fitna al-Hindustan network were killed in an intelligence-based raid with weapons and explosives recovered.
  • ISPR reports that sanitisation and clearance are underway in Kalat to remove any remaining threats following the exchange of fire.
  • Senior leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, publicly praised the Kalat operation.
  • Earlier briefings from ISPR tallied 17 militants killed across Kohlu, Kalat and Panjgur between December 24 and 26 under ongoing Azm-e-Istehkam operations.
